Progress at Risk as Global Leaders Confront the Ongoing Child Labor Crisis

February 12, 2026: In Marrakech, Morocco, on Wednesday morning, the 6th Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour opened at the Palais des Congrès to a palpable air of excitement. About 1,300 government leaders, employer groups, union leaders, and advocates against child labor attended the conference, organized by the government of Morocco with logistical assistance from the International Labour Organization (ILO). It is the first such international child labor conference since the one held in Durban, South Africa, in May of 2022.

14 Public Interest Groups Urge Meta to Act on Scam Ads

February 11, 2026: Washington, DC – Today, the National Consumers League and 13 other public interest groups urged Meta to implement new policies to combat the epidemic of scam ads on its platforms, which includes Facebook and Instagram. The advocacy effort comes after reporting that the company at one point projected 10% of its revenue to come from advertisements for scams and banned goods. Meta also privately estimated that the company facilitated a third of all successful scams in the United States.

NCL Issues a Second Alert to Heed Warnings About Unregulated Versions of GLP-1 Weight Loss Drugs

February 4, 2026: Washington, DC – A year ago, the National Consumers League took the unusual step of flagging warnings from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and medical societies stating that compounded versions of GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists) weight-loss drugs are not FDA approved and may cause serious health problems. The purpose was to inform consumers about the potential harm posed by these drugs before Hims & Hers, a large telehealth company, aired a widely hyped television ad during the 2025 Super Bowl touting only the benefits of compounded GLP-1s.
