NCL joins American Vehicle Owners Alliance as founding member

February 25, 2025: Washington, DC – Today, The National Consumers League (NCL) proudly joins the American Vehicle Owners Alliance (AVOA) as a founding member. This new coalition brings together eight members who will work together to ensure that vehicle owners—not just manufacturers—have full access and control over the data generated by their vehicles. AVOA will advocate for policies protecting consumers’ property rights, fostering competition, and preventing unnecessary and burdensome restrictions on owner’s access to vehicle-generated data. 

NCL signs on to PBM Accountability Project letter advocating for transparency and cost savings in prescription drug pricing

February 25, 2025: Washington, DC – The National Consumers League (NCL) is proud to announce its support for the PBM Accountability Project’s letter, which has been shared with the U.S. House Energy & Commerce Health Subcommittee ahead of their hearing on February 26, 2025. The PBM Accountability Project calls for urgent reform of the Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) industry to increase transparency, reduce prescription drug costs, and provide relief to consumers and patients across the nation.    

NCL responds to executive order on regulatory reform

This order seeks to dismantle what the administration views as an “overbearing and burdensome administrative state,” emphasizing the restoration of the constitutional separation of powers.

February 21, 2024: Washington, DC – The National Consumers League (NCL) is greatly disappointed by the Trump administration’s efforts to eliminate vital energy efficiency standards for household appliances, as referenced in Project 2025. These standards, which have been established over the past few decades, have played an integral role in reducing energy consumption, lowering utility bills, and helping consumers make sustainable choices. Rolling back these standards would directly harm consumers and the environment, leaving us more vulnerable in the face of the climate crisis.

NCL blasts the purge of the nation’s auto safety regulator

February 13, 2025: Washington, DC – The National Consumers League (NCL), a long-time advocate for consumer health and safety, is disappointed with the Senate’s confirmation of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), which oversees agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). NCL has consistently supported science, evidence-based medicine, and public health and believes this appointment poses a significant risk to Americans’ health and well-being. Kennedy, who holds a law degree and has no medical training, is uniquely unqualified for this role.
