Consumers for Quality Care
On June 22, 2023, in conjunction with The Hill during their Future of Health Care Summit, Consumers for Quality Care hosted a screening of the documentary film, InHospitable, at the Miracle Theater on Capitol Hill. Prior to the screening a panel discussion was held featuring CQC board members Donna Christensen and Jason Resendez, who provided opening remarks, Sandra Alvarez, director/producer of InHospitable, Vicki Arnett, nurse and patient advocate, and Frederick Isasi, executive director of Families USA. The panel, moderated by political strategist Rina Shah, focused on uncovering abuses committed by nonprofit hospitals and the need to recenter our nation’s hospital system around patient care. CQC appreciates our partners and fellow advocates who joined the overdue discussions about the profit-driven practices of nonprofit hospitals & how we can recenter the system around patient care.
Healthcare Distribution Alliance (HDA)
The Healthcare Distribution Alliance (HDA) recently sponsored and participated in The Hill’s Future of Health Care Summit 2023 on June 22, where policymakers and health experts touched on a variety of key topics, including advancements in patient access to care, the pursuit of health equity and the importance of resetting the care delivery model across the United States.
As part of the event, HDA’s Senior Vice President of Policy & Strategic Planning, Dr. Nicolette Louissaint, joined Sarah Wells Kocsis, Director of the Milken Institute’s Center for Public Health, to highlight distributors’ value and role in the supply chain and discuss resilience throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. Looking ahead, Dr. Louissaint emphasized the importance of reauthorizing the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act (PAHPA) to enhance the country’s public health infrastructure.
