Beware of Fakes
Today, bad actors are making big bucks by selling inferior quality or fake GLP-1 drugs online to unsuspecting consumers.
Who are they? According to the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), many bad actors are unlicensed online pharmacies run by organized crime syndicates.
Operating in at least 16 countries, these rogue pharmacies sell counterfeit GLP-1 drugs on hundreds or even thousands of similar websites, often tricking consumers by copying the photos, logos, packaging and actual design of the websites of FDA-approved GLP-1 drugs and putting the real drug’s name in the illegal site’s URL.
Another way online companies’ dupe, and potentially harm, consumers is by illegally selling the active ingredients used in GLP-1 drugs directly to purchasers without a prescription. Fraudsters claim these active ingredients are ’for research purposes only’ or ’not for human consumption, but they advertise them on social media as an easier, more affordable way to obtain GLP-1 drugs and offer to provide dosing instructions. According to the FDA, the active ingredients come from unregulated, undisclosed sources and may be contaminated.
The Weight Truth is to beware of websites selling supposed GLP-1 drugs directly to consumers and to follow the FDA’s tips to spot the warning signs that the website may be unsafe.
