Reid Maki is honored upon his retirement for 18 years of service advancing child labor protections and championing the rights, health, and safety of vulnerable child workers in the United States and around the world. He joined the National Consumers League in March 2008, where he coordinates the activities of the Child Labor Coalition and works to combat abusive child labor practices. A strong advocate for corporate social responsibility and fair labor standards, he previously spent 12 years at the Association of Farmworker Opportunity Programs directing the Children in the Fields campaign, a joint effort to close loopholes in child labor law that allow children in agriculture to work longer hours and at younger ages than their peers in other industries. Earlier in his career, he worked as a reporter for daily and weekly newspapers. Maki earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in American History from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and Stanford University, respectively.
