A Celebration of Service: Inside the 2025 Trumpeter Awards

The National Consumers League’s 2025 Trumpeter Awards Dinner was a resounding success, bringing together leaders and advocates to celebrate the nation’s strongest champions for consumers and workers.

NCL honored Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), and Washington State Attorney General Nick Brown with Trumpeter Awards for their unwavering commitment to consumer protection. Ellen Cassedy, founder of the union “9to5”, received the Florence Kelley Consumer Leadership Award for her lifelong advocacy of fair working conditions and women’s rights.

Special guests—including Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, labor organizer and women’s rights activist Heather Booth, and NCL Board Secretary Joi Chaney—joined the celebration, along with video greetings from former President Barack Obama and Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R-FL).

The event was a powerful reminder of the importance of championing fairness, safety, and justice for all consumers and workers—and of the collective strength we bring.
